Marseilles Lock

We arrived just in time to see the Harvest Run pulling into the lock with 4 barges. Fun for me, Dot slept in the truck (glorified staionwagon). It looked like it wasn't all going to fit. The lock is wide enough for the tug to detach from the barges and pull alongside, then reattach. When the lock was full (20 minutes), the tug started moving the barges, detached, waited for the barges to move ahead, pulled in behind reattached, and they were on their way. A thing of beauty. I had to shoot these pic from behind the fence cause of the terrorists. I thought the man in charge was going to let me in, but it's just not allowed. Damn you osama bin laden. Death to alkeda. I know it's spelled wrong, tough!

Illlini State Park

Marseilles Dam on the Illinois River

It's nice to have a dog that doesn't mind staying in the truck while I go take pics from the bridge.

Indiana Dunes

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, and State Park. Big climb for Dot up a small dune. Lake Michigan is really cold this time of years.

New Comisky, U.S. Cellular Field, The Cell, whatever they're callin it.

Opening day, and a beauty, sunny 75 degrees, Mark Buehrle shutout the Indians, I did not attend, to cheap to pay for parking. Looked for a free spot for about 30 minutes. Should have left earlier.

Kankakee River State Park and Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie

Not much to look at this time of year. Midewin is a place where the land is being restored to it's natual state.

I'm glad Dot didn't see this frog. I bet the frog is too!

Dot had to roll in some goose poop!

Dot's Illinois Adventure

It's madness, madness I tell ya! Well, most of the time. Dot's new friend across the easment.
